TWION is a volunteer based (no salaries) 501C – 3 charity working with the poor, elderly, mentally and physically disabled. Working from our homes, we TEAM up with like minded individuals around the world to achieve mutual goals. We develop relationships based on accountability and good will. In many cases we continue working together project after project.
TWION specializes in the relocation of FULLY FUNCTIONING ROOMS of used medical equipment, supplies and furnishings from International Medical Equipment Collaborative USA (IMEC) to poor countries. We are instrumental in the development of health-centers and clinics and in upgrading the level of healthcare in hospitals and other healthcare facilities. In many cases, equipment destined for the dump is given new life and helps to save lives in the process. We call this project Medical Impact. You can learn more about this project as well as Learning Impact, Blankets for Babies, Gifts of Love, Soc it to Em, Project USA, Precious Lives and others by going to OUR PROGRAMS. More detailed project and program explanations can be found by reading our NEWSLETTERS.
TWION has opened my life to a magical world filled with love, joy, friendship, accountability, reality, passion & truthfully sometimes frustration. I know that there is enough of everything in the world for everyone….enough food, clothing, shelter & medicine. Ending poverty is not just about more money. In fact, sometimes I feel like screaming STOP with the money….lets find a way to be more accountable and to spend our money more effectively. Putting money into the hands of the wrong people can actually make things worse. We must STOP paying people off and hold ourselves and each other accountable to do the right thing.
Working in ALL aspects of our projects has given us the opportunity to see poverty from the inside out. Our duties include working on customs clearance, administration of health, shipping & trucking. Working on these issues, allow us to experience many eye opening moments, that for me, are a key to ending poverty. It is my hope that one day all humanitarian shipments will be able to easily enter countries without taxes, tariffs or payments of any kind. Shipments should go directly to those who are their rightful recipients without political gain. While in some instances, we still believe in “giving without strings attached”, much of our TRUE success comes when we work as a TEAM with “strings of accountability” attached for ALL of US!
I am grateful to all those who have donated so generously to TWION. You are a part of our team too and many of you can find your names on TWION Poetic plaques, “You are Magic” & “Imagine It” in school rooms, clinics, hospitals, soup kitchens etc

FOOD BANK
There are approximately four million New Yorkers who experience difficulty affording food — an astounding number and one that continues to increase as the donated food supply drops to an all-time low and food costs skyrocket. To address this issue, the Food Bank procures and distributes food to a network of approximately 1,000 food assistance programs citywide. In addition, we provide food safety and capacity-building workshops; manage school nutrition education programs, after-school and emergency food programs; conduct food stamp prescreening and outreach; operate a Senior Food Program and a soup kitchen and food pantry; coordinate the largest Free Tax Assistance Program in the country; and develop policy and conduct research to inform community and government efforts to end food poverty throughout New York City.
At ONE, we achieve change through advocacy. We hold world leaders to account for the commitments they’ve made to fight extreme poverty, and we campaign for better development policies, more effective aid and trade reform. We also support greater democracy, accountability and transparency to ensure policies to beat poverty are implemented effectively.
